The Consular Section at the Embassy provides information on visas, Kenya Passports and other Consular Services

PAYMENTS FOR VARIOUS SERVICES

NB : Fees for consular services are payable through any of the following means.

1. BANKERS CHEQUE: For payments made in Italy. The cheques are to be paid to : THE EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA-ROME. Such cheques must be accompanied by a short explanation of the service requested. Personal cheques are not accepted.

2. BANK TRANSFER : The following are details of the Embassy's account required to make transfers

Persons who pay by bank transfer are obliged to indicate briefly the services for which they are effecting payment
A copy of the deposit slip should be forwarded to the embassy together with the applications.

3. POST OFFICE MONEY ORDERS : persons making payments from Italy may do so through the post office money orders usually referred to as (Vaglia Postale Ordinario).

NB: Fees indicated for each service DO NOT include mailing charges or commissions charged by banks. Applicants are advised to include five Euros for postal charges or make arrangements to collect their documents in any other way.

Replacement of Passports and other travel documents


Replacement of a passport after five or ten years of validity.

  1. The expiring passport
  2. Form PP1 for adults (Form PP2 for persons below 16 years of age) duly completed
  3. Four passport size photographs not older than 6 months
  4. A copy of the birth certificate if any
  5. A copy of the permit of stay in the country of residence
  6. The processing is approximately 6 to 7 weeks
  7. If the Embassy is expected to post back the renewed passport, the applicant is expected to include Euro five (Euro 5,00)
    postage fee

Replacement of a lost passport.

  1. Two passport application forms (Form PP1 for adults and Form PP2 for persons below 16 years of age) duly completed
  2. Two photocopies of Passport (if any)
  3. Two photocopies of Stay Permit
  4. Four passport size photographs no older than six months (studio taken, 2 x 1.5 inches or 4.5 x 3.5 cm)
  5. Police Abstract with its Official English translation. (translations, if the document is in Italian, May also be done at the Embassy for 20,00 euro)
  6. Two photocopies of Kenyan ID card and Birth Certificate
  7. Letter of explanation indicating how, where and when the passport got lost
  8. Processing period of approximately ten weeks
  9. If the Embassy is expected to post back the renewed passport, the applicant is expected to include Euro five (Euro 5,00) postage fee

Replacement of a damaged passport.

  1. Two passport application forms (Form PP1 for adults and Form PP2 for persons below 16 years of age) duly completed
  2. The damaged passport(including two photocopies of the same)
  3. Four passport size photographs no older than six months (studio taken, 2 x 1.5 inches)
  4. A covering letter giving detailed account of the cause and circumstances of the damage or mutilation
  5. Copy of Birth certificate if any
  6. Photocopy of resident permit of the country of residence
  7. If the Embassy is expected to post back the renewed passport, the applicant is expected to include 5,00Euro
  8. (the processing time is approximately 6 to 7 weeks)

Replacement of a passport whose pages are full.

  1. The passport who pages are full or just about
  2. Form PP1 duly completed
  3. Four passport size photographs
  4. Letter of request
  5. If the Embassy is expected to post back the renewed passport, the applicant is expected to include Euro five (Euro 5,00)postage fee

Passports for children under 16 years of age

Parents/guardians may apply for Kenyan passports on behalf of their children who are under the age of 16 years by submitting the following:

  1. two PP2 forms duly completed (please read carefully instructions given on the first page)
  2. Four passport size photographs no older than six months (studio taken, 2 x 1.5 inches)
  3. Original birth Certificate with its English translation where applicable. (translations, if the document is in Italian, May also be done at the Embassy)
  4. Birth Certificates issued in Greek, Polish, Turkish or Maltese should be translated and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the relevant country
  5. Marriage certificate if any
  6. Any other supporting documents
  7. The processing period is approximately 6-7 weeks
  8. If the Embassy is expected to post back the renewed passport, the applicant is expected to include Euro five (Euro 5,00) postage fee

Amendments and endorsements in passports

Requirements

  1. Formal bequest in writing for the services required (click here to download endorsement form )
  2. Relevant documents in support of amendments requested
  3. The passport to be amended
  4. If the Embassy is expected to post back the renewed passport, the applicant is expected to include Euro five (Euro 5,00) postage fee

Visas

A visa is required by all foreign nationals seeking to travel to Kenya with the exception of the following :

  • Nationals of countries exempted from obtaining visas (See list below)
  • Children below sixteen years

Nationals and bona fide residents of Italy, Poland, Turkey, Cyprus, Malta and Greece may obtain visas for Kenya on application at the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Rome or at any port of entry into Kenya

VARIOUS TYPES OF VISAS

NOTE. A visa issued at the Embassy must be utilized within three months from the date of issue.

SINGLE ENTRY VISA

Issued to all persons intending to enter Kenya for holiday, visit or business. Upon arrival, one should request for the desired period of stay in Kenya up to a maximum of three months. An extension may however be granted on request and the total stay in Kenya shall not exceed six months from the date of arrival. Requirements:

  1. National passport or acceptable Travel Document with a minimum validity of six months
  2. Visa form dully filled ( Click to download form )
  3. Two passport size photographs
  4. Proof residency for non citizens
  5. Proof of ability to return

Processing period-24 hours from the time the applications are received at the Embassy.

TRANSIT VISA

Issued to persons unable to get direct flights or immediate connections to their ultimate point of destination. It may be issued for a maximum validity of seven days. Requirements:

  1. National passport or acceptable Travel Document with a minimum validity of six months
  2. Visa form dully filled ( Click to download form )
  3. Two passport size photographs
  4. Proof residency for non citizens
  5. Proof of on-ward connectivity

Processing period-24 hours from the time the applications are received at the Embassy.

(MULTIPLE JOURNEY VISA

Issued to persons who, by virtue of their work or activities need to make frequent journeys to Kenya. It may be issued for a period of six or twelve months. Requirements:

  1. Covering letter giving details on the nature of business or activities that would warrant such a visa to be considered
  2. Three Visa forms duly completed ( Click to download form )
  3. Four passport size photographs
  4. Original passport
  5. Processing period takes about 8 weeks.

NB ; Nationals of the following countries MUST obtain Visas prior to their departure to Kenya. These are obtainable at the Kenya Embassy nearest to them. Such Visas will be processed within 4 Weeks.

Requirements

  4. Covering letter detailing reasons for travel
  5. Invitation letter from the host and photocopy of his/her document
  6. Permit of stay in the country of residence.

Canine/Feline Importation

  1. Valid Original passport of the pet
  2. Copy of a valid passport of the owner
  3. Veterinary Certificate of Good health authenticated by the relevant authorities

Consular Declarations

  1. Formal letter of request
  2. Copy of Passport
  3. Two passport size photos
  4. Supporting documents relevant to the nature of declaration required or requested

Requirements

  1. Copy of your passport

  4. Two photographs
  5. Euro seventy five(Euro 75,00)
  6. If the Embassy is expected to post back the renewed passport, the applicant is expected to include Euro five (Euro 5,00) postage fee

REGISTRATION OF KENYA NATIONALS IN ITALY

Kenyan Citizens in italy, Greece, Poland, Turkey and Cyprus should at the earliest opportunity register their names, addresses, telephone, fax or e-mail contracts at this Embassy. They can e-mail register@embassyofkenya.it under the heading "Registration of Kenya Nationals in Italy".The Embassy should also be notified of any any changes in these contracts or departure from Italy
