 CONDIZIONI PER L’IMPORTAZIONE DI CANI/GATTI IN KENYA

Nessun cane e/o gatto può essere importato in Kenya, da qualunque Paese esso provenga, se non accompagnato da un certificato veterinario internazionale delle vaccinazioni il quale attesti:

1. che l’animale non ha mostrato segni clinici di rabbia il giorno della partenza;

2. è stato tenuto dalla nascita o per i 6 mesi precedenti alla partenza, in un Paese non affetto da rabbia come definito dal Codice Sanitario per gli animali terrestri delll’Organizzazione Mondiale per la Salute Animale (OIE)  O soddisfare i seguenti requisiti:

        i.            Non aver mostrato segni clinici di rabbia nelle 48 ore precedenti alla partenza;

      ii.            Sia stato identificato con un microchip il cui numero dovrà essere indicato sul passaporto dell’animale e sul certificato rilasciato dalla ASL;

    iii.            Sia stato vaccinato contro la rabbia

a)      non meno di 6 mesi e non oltre un anno prima della partenza, se trattasi della prima vaccinazione e quest’ultima dovrà essere stata fatta non prima dei 3 mesi di vita dell’animale;

b)      Non più di un anno dalla partenza in caso di vaccinazioni successive;

c)      Con un vaccino antivirus inattivo o con vaccino combinato;

    iv.            Sia stato sottoposto ad un test degli anticorpi, non meno di 3 mesi e non oltre 24 mesi dalla partenza, volto ad accertare la titolazione deglia anticorpi come prescritto dal Manuale per la salute animale dell’OIE, il cui risultato non dovrà essere superiore allo 0.5IU/ml;

OPPURE

Qualora non siano soddisfatti i requisiti di cui agli articoli ii. iii. e iv, l’autorità Keniana può richiedere la messa in quarantena dell’animale, fino ad un massimo di 6 mesi, a spese del proprietario dell’animale.

3. Sia clinicamente privo di sintomi relativi a qualunque malattia contagiosa ed infettiva e sia privo di parassitti interni e/o esterni; e il certificato di buona salute deve essere emesso non oltre le 48 ore prima della partenza;

I. L’animale dovrebbe essere accompagnato da un certificato del Comandante (della nave o dell’aereomobile o altro mezzo sul quale l’animale entra in Kenya) attestante che l’animale non ha lasciato il mezzo sul quale è stato  caricato al punto d’imbarco originario, ed è stato isolato da altri animali durante il viaggio;

II. I porti di ingresso in Kenya possono essere:

III.  La presente autorizzazione all’importazione del cane ha la validità di 30 Giorni ed è valido per un solo viaggio.

IV. La presente autorizzazione deve accompagnare l’animale durante l’importazione;

V. Gli animali che entrano in Kenya dovrebbero viaggiare accompagnati da un Cargo Manifest ed essere posizionati nel Compartimento dell’aereomobile destinato alla merce. Non dovrebbero viaggiare quale semplice bagaglio al seguito del passeggero e in cabina.

 

 

CONDITIONS FOR IMPORTING DOGS AND CATS INTO KENYA

 

1. No canine or feline animal shall be imported into Kenya from any country unless

accompanied by an international veterinary certificate attesting that the animal:

1. Showed no clinical sign of rabies on the day of shipment;

2. Were kept since birth or for the 6 months prior to shipment in a rabies free country

as defined in the World Organization for Animal Health (OlE) Terrestrial Animal

Health Code OR satisfy the following stipulations:

i.  Showed no clinical sign of rabies within 48 hours of shipment;

AND EITHER

ii. Were identified by a permanent mark (such as a microchip) and their

identification number shall be stated in the certificate or had any other

adequate identification; and

iii. Were vaccinated against rabies:

a. not less than 6 months and not more than one year prior to shipment

in case of a primary vaccination, which should have been carried

out when the animals were at least 3 months old;

b. not more than one year prior to shipment in the case of a booster

vaccination;

c. with an inactivated virus vaccine or with a recombinant vaccine

expressing the rabies virus glycoprotein; and

IV. Were subjected not less than 3 months and not more than 24 months prior

to shipment to an antibody test as prescribed in the OlE Terrestrial

Manual with a positive result equivalent to at least 0.5 IU/ml;

OR

have not been vaccinated against rabies or do not meet all the conditions set

out in points ii, iii and iv above; in such cases, Kenya may require the

placing of the animals in a quarantine station located in the country for up to

six months at the cost of the owner of the animal.

 

3. Is clinically free of symptoms of any other contagious and infectious disease and

internal and external parasites, the certificate being dated not more than 48 hours

before embarkation;

 

I. The animal shall be accompanied by a certificate from the captain of the ship or

aircraft or driver of a vessel in which the animal travelled to Kenya certifying that the

animal has not left the vessel between the place of embarkation and the place of entry

into Kenya, and has been isolated from all other canine and feline animals throughout

the journey.

II. The ports of entry into Kenya shall be.......................................................

III. This import permit shall be valid for a maximum of thirty (30) days and shall only be

for one consignment.

Iv. This import permit shall accompany the animal during importation.

V. Animals entering Kenya should travel as Manifest Cargo and use the Freight

Compartment of the aircraft. They should not travel as baggage-cargo or in passenger

cabins.

 

 

 

 

 

KENYA SIGNS A US DOLLARS 33 MILLION LOAN FROM IFAD AND EUR 12.8 MILLION LOAN FROM SPANISH TRUST FUND

The Ambassador of Kenya to Italy who is also the Permanent Representative of Kenya to the Rome based United Nations Agencies, H.E. Mrs. Josephine Gaita and Dr. Kanayo F. Nwanze, President of IFAD   signed on 23rd May 2012 a Financing Agreement for a loan of US $ 33 Million to the Republic of Kenya to finance the Upper Tana Catchment Natural Resource Management Project. An additional Loan amount of EUR 12.8 Million from the Spanish Food Security co-financing Facility Trust Fund will also be provided to fund the same project.

The project will cover about 17,420 square Kilometres and include 24 rivers that drain into the Tana River with the aim to increase food production and incomes of the poor rural families living in the areas. This new project will help smallholder farmers in the area to reduce rural poverty through sustainable management of their natural resource base.

During the signing ceremony, the Ambassador thanked IFAD for the continued assistance in improving the livelihoods of the rural poor in Kenya and reiterated the Kenya Government’s commitment in utilizing the resources for the wellbeing of the Kenyans.

During the signing ceremony, the Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs. Jacinta M. Ngwiri, Agriculture Attaché and Mr. Robert Kobia, First Counsellor.

AMBASSADOR JOSEPHINE. W. GAITA IS RECEIVED BY THE PRESIDENT OF CYPRUS

Her Excellency Mrs. Josephine Wangari Gaita was received by the President of the Republic of Cyprus on 29th September 2011  on the occasion of the Presentation of Her letters of Credence accrediting her as the Kenya’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus.

During the meeting with His Excellency President Demetris Christofias at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, Ambassador Gaita  said, she looked forward  to enhancing the existing warm relations  and looked forward  to  the finalization of the pending bilateral Agreements  as well as facilitating increased trade between the two Countries.

After the  Credentials  presentation ceremony  Ambassador Gaita met with the Officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus, Kenyan Students, Archbishop Makarios  who is Head of the Orthodox Church in Kenya and the Secretary -General of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

 

NEW VISA FEES

With effect from 1st July 2011, Single entry visa to Kenya will cost 40,00 Euros. Children  under the age of 16 years will also be charged the  same fee per visa.

 H.E.  MRS. JOSEPHINE WANGARI GAITA  VISITS TURKEY AND PRESENTS LETTERS OF CREDENCE TO THE PRESIDENT OF TURKEY

Her Excellency Mrs. Josephine W. Gaita presented  Letters of Credence  accrediting her as Kenya’s  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary  to the President of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Mr. Abdullah Gul on the 24th of May 2011. The ceremony   attended by four other Ambassadors was held at the Presidential Palace in Ankara Turkey. After the  presentation ceremony Her Excellency had  a private  audience with the president  where she discussed matters of mutual benefit to the   two countries.

During Her visit to Turkey, Her Excellency held  a series of meetings with the Kenyans especially students based in Ankara and with  businesspeople and investors in Istanbul .
