KENYANS WIN AT THE ROME MARATHON

The Kenyan Marathoners once again   shown their prowess on 18^th March 2012 in Rome when they swept the top Positions in both the Men and women marathon events.  During the   hotly contested men’s marathon, Kenya’s Luka Lokobe Kanda won at time of 2:08:04 He crossed the finish line with the 3rd time ever in Rome. He was closely followed by fellow Kenyan compatriot   Samson Kiprono Barmao at 2:08:52. Festus Kiprotich Langat of Kenya was seventh.

 In the women’s marathon, Hellen Jemaiyo Kimutai   of Kenya won at a time of 2:31:11. She was applauded at the finish line by  Kenyans who had turned up to cheer the Kenyan participants.

Present at the finish line to congratulate the winners was the Ambassador, H.E. Mrs. Josephine Gaita and other Embassy staff.
