RE: AN INTERNATIONAL JOBS AND DIASPORA OFFICE IN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

In 2004, the Government officially launched the International Jobs Office.  It was a Department under the Directorate of Personnel Management.  The Office was mandated to create awareness within the wider Kenya population on employment possibilities that exist in the international organization and assist them in securing the said jobs.
In the recent past, it has become necessary to embrace a new constituency that constitutes a strong and vibrant community of Kenyans abroad, hence, the establishment of an International Jobs and Diaspora Office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.   The office was formalised in February 2007.
The Office
Apart from coordinating action in assisting Kenyans secure jobs in International Organizations, the Office will serve as a single window for Kenyans seeking investment advisory services.  There is strong evidence showing that remittance and investment from Kenyans in the Diaspora has had a significant effect on Kenya's recovery.  It is estimated that at least Ksh.70 billion is injected into Kenya's economy annual from Kenyans abroad, hence, the Government Policy to ensure a strong office to work with the Kenyan Diaspora.
We are therefore, appealing to you to take advantage of this office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through this Mission or any other Kenya Embassy abroad for assistance and advise.  I am aware that in your respective countries of residence, you have formalised Kenyan associations, with which we have been working closely and look forward to more interactions.
