Application for a Kenyan Birth Certificate

Requirements:

  • Form BDA1 dully filled  (Click to download form)
  • Original foreign birth certificate in English or Plurilingual birth certificate
  • Original/certified copies of parents’ passports
  • Original/certified copies of parents’ birth certificates
  • € 20 processing fee
  • The Application can be personally delivered to the Embassy, or sent  by a courier.
  • The applicant has to arrange for collection of passport once finalized by courier ( The Couriers way bill to be sent to the Embassy via email – consular@embassyofkenya.it).

Obtaining a Duplicate Birth/Death Certificate

Requirements:

  • General search form ( click to download form )
  • Photocopy of original certificate for ease of reference;
  • Statement explaining loss of original certificate;
  • € 20 processing fee
  • The Application can be personally delivered to the Embassy, or sent by a courier.
  • The applicant has to arrange for collection of passport once finalized by courier ( The Couriers way bill to be sent to the Embassy via email – consular@embassyofkenya.it)

Certificate of Good Conduct

Requirements:

  • Letter/Email request to the Embassy for fingerprints
  • Application form duly filled (biographical details) (Click here to download form)
  • Original Passport and Original second generation Kenyan ID card for certification
  • 1 coloured passport size photograph
  • €20 processing fee for the certificate
  • €20 Fee authentification of documents and letter of request for finger prints.
  • The Application can be personally delivered to the Embassy, or sent by a courier.

Certificate of no impediment to Marriage

Requirements:

  • Application Form MA5 duly filled. ( Click here to download Form )
  • Duly filled Declaration of Commitment to Marriage form  (fiancé and fiancée(Click to download form) 
  • Original birth certificate
  • Original Kenyan passport and original passport of fiancé or fiancée
  • 2 coloured passport size photographs each
  • € 110 processing fee for the certificate of no impediment to marriage
  • € 40 processing fee for the Nulla Osta (only for persons intending to  get married in Italy)

NOTE: If both parties are Kenyan Citizens  they will be required to pay the processing fee for each party respectively.

Information for Foreign parties intending to marry in Kenya           

Requirements

Parties wishing to conduct a marriage ceremony in Kenya are required to produce the following documents:

  • Valid Passports
  • Birth certificate
  • Decree Absolutes (if divorced)
  • Death certificates (if widowed)
  • Separate Statutory Declarations sworn at a Solicitors/Notary Public office, stating the fact that one is single and free to marry. This should bear the solicitors signature and official stamp.
  • Parental consent in form of legal documents for persons below twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Residency in Kenya for at least twenty-one days. If this is not possible, a Special Licence could be obtained beforehand by contacting the registrar’s office in Kenya.
  • All documents should be officially translated and authenticated at the legalization office of the procurator/ Prefecture.  
  • All documents have to certified by the Kenya Embassy Rome for purposes of use  in Kenya. ( Certification fee of €20 per document.

Registration of a foreign marriage in Kenya           

Persons wishing to register a foreign marriage in Kenya require the following:

  • Original Marriage Extract (translated if not in English),
  • Original/Certified copy of bride’s passport
  • Original/Certified copy of bride groom’s passport,
  • Fee of Euro 20 processing fee,
  • Translation fee of Euro 20 if the certificate is in Italian.

Certificate of No Impediment to the transport of human remains/Ashes

The funeral agencies in charge of preparing the body for transportation should provide the following:

Requirements:

  • Letter of request
  • A letter from the Health Department confirming that there was no contagious disease at the time of death (Estratto di atto di morte).
  • Telephone number of next of kin in Kenya.
  • Death certificate
  • Passport copy of the deceased
  • Burial permit
  • € 20 processing fee
  • The Application can be personally delivered to the Embassy, or sent by a courier.
  • The applicant has to arrange for collection of passport once finalized by courier ( The Couriers way bill to be sent to the Embassy via email – consular@embassyofkenya.it).

On receipt of the above documents, the Embassy will issue a certificate of no objection for the human remains to be transported to Kenya. Further documentation may be needed in case of the transport of human ashes for Non-Kenyans.

Authentication of signatures and documents

Requirements

  • A letter of request indicating the purpose for the authentication.
  • Copy of an identification document of the client requesting the service.
  • The original document duly authenticated by the relevant authority.
  • €20 fee processing fee per document to be authenticated.
